Exfoliation is the process of eliminating dead skin cells from the surface of our body and face. As our skin is always renewing itself dead skin cells can build up on the surface leaving it looking dry and lack lustre. A body scrub can be used to remove the dead skin skills leaving your skin feeling smooth and returning it to its former glory!
To exfoliate, rinse your body in warm (not hot) water. Apply the scrub in a circular motion paying attention to problem areas such as the knees and elbows. Rinse the scrub off to reveal your rejuvenated skin.
Exfoliating should only be carried out once a week if you have sensitive skin and two or three times a week for those with combination or normal skin. Over exfoliation can cause skin irritation and inflammation leading to an acceleration of the ageing process.
Scrubs come in many different forms from coconut scrubs to salt scrubs, sugar scrubs and seed scrubs.
Here at Tolland and Woodley we are supporters of The Soap Shop 100% natural sugar scrubs. They contain no artificial perfume, no colour, no preservatives, just nature's finest ingredients. The Soap Shop sugar scrubs come in bar form making it more economical as you are only using the exact amount you need rather than scooping a handful from a jar and watching half of it go down the plug hole!
With the summer weather on the way it’s time to start scrubbing, (if you haven’t already.) Dare to bare with glowing skin and feel fabulous doing!
